Bobby Abreu
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Angels are expected to sign Bobby Abreu to a one-year contract "by the start of spring training Saturday."
The newspaper reports that Abreu is scheduled to undergo a physical exam Wednesday and the Angels are expected to waive Nick Green to make room on the 40-man roster. Abreu has played right field for virtually his entire career, but would likely replace Garret Anderson in left field while also seeing time at designated hitter.

Eric Milton
Dodgers signed LHP Eric Milton to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Injuries and home runs combined to sabotage Milton's career after he signed a three-year, $25.5 million deal with the Reds in 2005. He went 16-27 with a 5.83 ERA during the contract, missing most of 2007 and all of 2008 following Tommy John elbow surgery. Now 33 years old, Milton is little more than Triple-A filler even if healthy.

Ramon Ortiz
Giants signed RHP Ramon Ortiz to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Ortiz, this month's Caribbean Series MVP, is back from Japan after going 4-7 with a 5.82 ERA for Oriz last season. The 35-year-old last pitched in the majors in 2007, finishing 5-4 with a 5.45 ERA for the Twins and Rockies. His only hope of making the Giants out of spring training is as a reliever, but he qualifies as pretty good depth.

Matt Bush
Blue Jays acquired RHP Matt Bush from the Padres for a player to be named.
It's probably a waste of a 40-man roster spot, but the Jays already have a few players on their that should be on minor league deals. Bush missed last season following Tommy John surgery and has yet to fully recover his velocity. He may be held back in extended spring training before pitching in the minors this season.
